We perfomed transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) for control of intractable bleeding secondary to advanced carcinoma of the uterine cervix in four patients. As embolic materials, Spongel and steel coil were used. In every patient, the bleeding was controled by this procedure. However, one patient bled again four months later. This recurrent bleeding was decreased by the second TAE. As a complication, only a patient had a disturbance of movement and pain of the left lower extremity following this procedure. TAE is a very useful procedure for patients in similar situation, but it should be performed carefully.
