The squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck observed from 1963 through 1989 were studied. Seventy four cases of the head and neck SCC were found out of 148 cases of SCC on the skin, The incidence rate of the head and neck SCC for women is 51.4% and that for men is 48.6%. The incidence rate for the patients over 60 years old is 79.7%, and is higher than for those under 60. Seventy nine point seven persent of SCC on the head and neck developed on the normally appearing skin without any noticeabe symptoms od the growth. Grading of malignancy of both clinical and histopathological findings were comparaticely low at the first clinical ezamination of the patients. Surgical excision has been applied for SCC treatment. The preoperative combination therapy of radiation and hyperthrmia has made it possible to resect the lesions in smaller areas.
