        Pars Plana Lensectomy (PPL) using Vitreous Infusion Suction Cutter X (VISC X) was performed for 21 eyes. Those included 8 traumatic cataracts, 6 subluxated lenses, 4 congenital cataracts and 3 spherophakias associated with glaucoma. The surgery was successful in 18 eyes with improved postoperative visual acuity, except 3 cases of traumatic cataract required retinal detachment surgery. Operative complications encountered were unintentional iridectomy, small lens fragment falling down into the vitreous, retinal bleeding and retained lens material behind the iris. None of those affected postoperative visual acuity. Chief merits of PPL are very small incision, free all posterior synechia and minimal postoperative inflammation with little damage to the corneal endothelium. Those clinical data suggest that PPL is effective and safe without any severe complications in some cases of soft cataract.
