Left ventricular(LV) function was analyzed before and early after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in 57 patients with angina pectoris. There were 43 men and 14 women at a mean age of 61.5 years old (ranged from 41 to 79 years old). The average number of grafts was 2.26. LV function was evaluated using LV ejection fraction(EF), LV end-diastolic volume index(EDVI), LV end-systolic volume index(ESVI) and LV end-diastolic pressure(EDP). LVEDP(p =0.0013), LVESVI(p =0.0002) and LVEDVI (p=0.0001) were significantly improved after CABG. LV function seemed to be improved though no significant improvement in LVEF was demonstrated. In addition, patients whose LVEF was less than 50% before operation were divided into two groups
