The decision of blood group of saliva had been possible indirectly by the methods such as the absorption or elution test etc., but was impossible directly. We found that the blood group of saliva was possible directly by using the suspension of Cortone (acidifying suspension of cortisone). Details in preparation and examination were as follows. Fresh saliva was doubled with physiological salt solution succesively and 3 series of from 1 to 16th fractions were prepared on a hole glass. To each series a drop of anti A, anti B and anti O serum were added and then a drop of Cortone solution was added and mixed. Within one to three minutes the agglutination of cortison acetate crystal was appeared in the corresponding serum and promptly blood group of saliva was determined. This method has many profits such as shortening of determination time, simplifying of the procedure and non-using of human blood etc. When this method was applied to the decision of blood group of saliva of over and one handred cases, the same results were reappeared in high rate. Accordingly this method was possible to use in practical legal medicine.
