Six operated cases of traumatic epidural hematoma of the posterior fossa were reported. All of these epidural hematomas extended supratentorially to the occipital area. In 19 cases of posterior fossa epidural hematoma (PFE) with supratentorial extension, slinical characteristics were reviewed and summarized as follows. 1) These hematomas occurred predominantly in adults in contrast to posterior fossa epidural hematomas alone (typical PFE) which are usually seen in chidren. 2) These cases differed from previous report in that the profound disturbance of consciousness that was considered typical PFE was absent. In our six cases, four were in semicomatose condition. 3) In these cases, multiple intracranial lesions were often found. 4) Some neurological aftereffect remained more frequently than in typical PFE.
