Cells of the Nichols strain of Treponema pallidum (T,p,), the causative of syphilis, were studied under scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the results were as follows : 1) Glass slide and filter paper were used as the sample holder in parallel. The results obtained by both materials were very effective for the recongnition of some characteristic information in the spirochetal morphology.
