Morphological effect of phenol on Spirilla cells was observed with a light microscope, a darkfield light microscope, a scanning electron microscope and a transmission electron microscope. Spirilla strains used were Spirillum itersonii and Spirillum peregrinum. As a control, Escherichia coli was used.
