For the differential diagnosis of extrahepatic (or obstructive) from intrahepatic (or parenchymal) jaundice, PTC (percutaneous trashepatic chalangiography) was performed. In 107 cases we compared radiological findings with laboratory data, and demonstrated especially radiological findings at the distal portion of the obstructive duct. Radiological findings demonstrated with PTC were characterized by nipple-like narrowing, round configration and tapered end on the carcinoma of the head of pancreas and ampulla of Vater. Radiological findings of the common ductal carcinoma were demonstrated a ragged, irregular filling defect, and round configuration. Radiograph of common duct stone showed the stone in dilated duct or deep meniscus sign. Also past operative strictures with juandice could be visualized by PTC.
