Misima Island is an isolated island in Japan Sea 23 miles off the coast of Kitaura District of Yamaguti Prefecture, and about 7.826 km2 in area. The folklores of this island are quite distinct from those of the main land. In this article the rituals throughout the year, marriage, funeral, popular legend, childrens' play,old tales,. popular songs, first names for girls,farm-houses and dialect are mentioned in detail.
