For the pathological study of the canine bebesiosis, 27 dogs (containing 9 dogs in report I.) were necropsied and examined histopathologically. They consisted of three groups and were shown in Table 1. They were classified four tyoes for their symptoms, namely, 1) the most severe or progressive, 2) convalescent, 3) chronic, and 4) splenectomized. The results obtained were as follows: 1. In acute case, general anemia was severe. 2. Enlargment of the spleen was found in all cases either acute or chronic type. The ratio of the weight of spleen was found in all cases either acute or chronic type. The ratio of the weight of spleen per body weight reached to the highest at 30-40 days after inoclation.(7.3 times) and decreased gradually to 200 days, and thereafter, increased agein. The spleen was friable in early stage but in prolonged cases the consistency became sclerotic because of thickness of capsule and trabecles. 3. The follicles of the spleen were atrophic and hyalinized substance deposited arund the follicles in severe case. Megakaryocytes were found in the pulp of the spleen from 19 days to 200 days after inoculation. The number of megakaryocytes became maximum at 20-45 days after inoculation. The pulp was cellular and contained a large number of juvenile erythrocytes and round cells showing hematopoietic activity. ...
