Takesima Island is round rhomboid in shape and 1000m. In circumference. The east coast has a cliff of 20m. High, and the south coast is full of gravels of various size. The sandy beach is found at the west and north coasts. The eastern part of the island shows the highest, forming a moderate sl ope to westward. The climate of the island is of the Inland-type, and the amount of rainfall is rather small, annual rainfall being 793.5mm. The average temperature is 16.0'C. which is higher than those of Simonoseki and Yamaguti and almost similar to that of Kagosima, though the temperature during winter is lower than that of Kagosima. The east wind prevails from spring to autumn, and the north-west wind does from autumn to winter.
