The evaluation of stress of workers was investigated with the State-Trait Anxiety Inventry (STAI) developed by Spielberger et al. The results obtained are as follows: (1) In compairing the scores of A-State and A-Trait obtained from manufacturing work group with those from non-manufacturing work group, we noticed that the score of manufacturing group was higher than that of non-manufacturing group on each of the two scales. (2)We compaired the high score rate of male with that of female in manufacturing group. The results of A-State showed that the high score rate of female was higher than that of male. When we used A-Trait, there was no change between male and female. (3) The high score rate of A-Trait in male of manufacturing group was higher than that of A-State. Therefore, it was considered that the manufacturing group had more stress than non-manufacturing group, and female of manufacturing group had more stress in workplace than male of the same group. On the other hand, it was suggested that male of manufacturing group might have large stress in their homes.
