Adverse effects of ionic and nonionic content midea for urography, computed tomography or digitai subtraction anigiography were examined for the patients injected intraveneoously those drugs during a period of September, 1986-June, 1988. The number of patients who received ionic media was 4151, while that of patients who received nonionic media was 4026. The incidence of adverse effects of the ionic drugs was significantly higher than that of the nonionic drugs (11.73% vs 2.06%,p＜0.01). The increace of severe reactions (dyspnea, shock and unconsciousness) was 0.31% in the ionic drugs, while no severe reactions were found in the nonionic deugs. 86.3 percent of patients with adverse reaction s were pretested woth contast media. Premedication was not significant on adverse effects.
