The objective of this study was to determine the effects of brain temperature on calcium overload and cytoskeletal damage in CA1 of the gerbil hippocampus following transient ischemia. Transient ischemia was induced by occluding both common carotid arteries for 5 min. The animals were divided into 3 groups according to the scalp temperature (mean±SEM) during ischemia as follows: A (hypothermic), 33.3±0.1℃
