Determination of Blood Group from the blood of Thoracic or Abdominal Aorta in Putrefied Corpses and Burned Bodies

Determination of the blood group in puterfied corpses and burned bodies is important for identification of individual body. In these cases determination of the blood group is not always easy by the absorption test or the elution test, because the heart blood is putrefied or altered. We have recognized that in putrefied corpses the aorta blood remains color of oxyhemoglobin, although the heart blood is hemolytic by putrefaction or fire, the blood group is able to be determined from the aorta blood by the direct method. 1. On 5 putrefied cases without intact red cells in the heart or aorta blood the blood group is determined by the absorption test from the blood stain of the heart or aorta blood. In this case the determination of the blood group is shown more clearly in the aorta blood than in the heart blood. 2.When compared with putrefying process between the heart and the aorta blood, from sacrified rats (body weight 500-700g) putrefiedin an incubator at 20-25℃ the blood is collected in some days interval for several times and the structure of red cells is investigated. We recognized the fact that the heart blood is more rapidly hemolyzed than the blood in the aorta and this experiment result is similar to the autopsy cases.
