Descriptions
It has been said that the impulsive response impressed on the granular materials does not vield data with good reproducibility. Partly, this statement is true, and is also said that granular layer in a vessel exhibits non-linear characteristics even for static external pressure. To understand this problem we have measured the impact force of the granular layer under both the dropping of hammer and the impact from the bottom of the vessel. Results from the above two experiments have appeared with excellent reproducibity and in those connection shock absorbing ability of granular layer could be defined from the response wave shapes. Additionally, to make the quantitative analysis of the impact mechanism some equivalent networks are constructed for various granular materials with different kind of particles.
