Invertebrates are very important organisms to understand the diversity and evolution of the animal kingdom. Some of them living in water or soil are easy to trap or collect and they, especially earthworms, are seen frequently in school science classes and college biology laboratories. This article highlights the teaching skills to be understood the external/internal morphology of the earthworm by observation and dissection. Additionally, we describe the effectiveness of teaching by providing a felt animal of the earthworm as a virtual dissection alternative for students who may not feel comfortable working with actual earthworms in biology laboratory of teacher training programs. Although several earthworms collected from grounds by students before this laboratory were used as its own material, many students felt the difficulty of trying to search and collect earthworms with suitable sizes for dissection, suggesting that it is important to understand how to supply enough materials for the class considering their habitat...
