From early twentieth,it has been considered that reticuloendothelial cells play an important role in the pathogenesis of amyloidosis. In the present review I discussed the role of macrophages in the formation of amyloid fibrils. In addition I described the role of amyloid enhancing factor in amyloidosis,which exceedingly shortened a lag period of amyloid deposition during amyloid induction.
