Descriptions
Recently the present author has collected a hundred Cretaceous rock samples from several sites within Yamaguchi Prefecture, west Japan, and the paleo/rock magnetic study now has been carried out on these samples, of which the natural remanent magnetization(NRM)was measured and the virtual paleogeomagnetic pole position (VGP)was calculated using the NRM direction thus obtained, and also the thermo magnetic analysis (J,-T analysis)has been performed Samples : During the period of 1981-”82,200 specimens in about a hundred samples come from 9 sites were submitted to the NRM measurement by means of an astatic magnetometer. A brief Cretaceous geology of Yamaguchi Prefecture and the sampling sites are shown in Fig.1.Except three sites (S-2,S-4 and K-3),the other districts were previously attacked and on those samples, the paleomagnetic result had been reported already(Domen,1979),especially the site
