A magnetic study of the tephra in Diluvial deposits, West Japan

A magnetic study of the tephra in Diluvial deposits, West Japan
Domen Haruo
Descriptions
At the several localities in West Japan, the volcanic ash deposits have been embeded in Diluvial layers. Among them, the representatives at Yamaguchi Prefecture are sometimes called by the name of ”Ube volcanic ash” which are well known to be correlated to the Yame clay and the Aso pyroclastic flow in the Northern Kyushu Island and also to the Musashino loam at the Kwanto district in the central Japan. In the previous reports (Domen 1968, Domen et al 1969, 1970),the description of the geology and a magnetic study had been described on these Diluvial tephra deposits mainly of Yamaguchi Prefecture, West Japan, and Fukuoka Prefecture inclusive. The present brief note has offered some more data on the magnetic characteristics of the similar tephra samples themselves and also of the ferromagnetic minerals separated from those samples. The experimentals on several items had been performed as follows
