The patient was a 62-year-old male with upper abdominal discomfort. He had Epstein-Barr virus-associated gastric carcinoma located at the gastric mucosal atrophic border. This case suggests chrnic atrophic gastritis may be considered to be a cofactor in EBV-associated gastiric carcinogenesis.
