Descriptions
In order to investigate the protective effect of Prostaglandin E_2 (PGE_2), Somatostatin (SRIF) and Secretin in Deoxycholic acid (DOC) induced actue pancreatitis in dogs, pancreatic tissue blood flow was meanured 30 minutes before and 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes after DOC infusion using H_2clearance method. The DOC was infused about 10 minutes after the beginning of the PGE_2 (1μk/kg/min), SRIF (8μg/kg/min) or Secretin (10U/kg/hr) administration. In the PGE_2 group, the pancreatic tissue blood flow levels (ml/min/100g) were 84±8.0 before DOC infusion and 74±15.7, 64±18.5, 74±12.3 and 73±13 in 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes after DOC infusion, respectively. There were no significant differences in the pancreatic tissue blood flow levels before and after DOC infusion. While the pancreatic tissue blood flow levels showed singnificant redcution after DOC infusion in the SRIF, Secretin and no-drug infusion groups. It is concluded that the PGE_2 shows the protective effect to DOC induced pancreatic tissue damage.
