内容記述(抄録等)It has been observed by the cyclic simple shear test that the seismic settlement of a clayey layer is considerably large compared with the settlement induced by the secondary compression; for kaolinite clay, the settlement induced by cyclic shear strain even reaches 5% in strain, and that such a settlement depends on the cyclic shear strain amplitude, number of strain cycles, and the overconsolidation ratio. Practically, the seismic settlement has been confirmed in Japan and in Mexico. So, this problem cannot be disregarded in the present situation that the structures have become precisely and also it is necessary to clarify the settlement characteristics of soft ground induced by earthquakes. In this paper, the method to estimate the seismic settlement of a clayey ground is proposed. As a result of estimation, the settlements of 0-3cm are obtained for the case of the soil profile in Mexico City. These values reasonably agree with the results obtained by leveling at the 1985 Mexico Earthquake.
